What's new in Termax?

Every version for Windows, Android and the web app: new features, fixes and security updates. The Windows app updates itself, Android updates via Google Play.

How we protect your data: Data security

  1. 0.8.3October 7, 2026

Cloud sessions in the Windows and Android apps too

With Premium you can now open an SSH connection as a cloud session in the Windows and Android apps as well: pick "Open as cloud session" in the connection's ⋯ menu. It keeps running on the Termax server for up to 24 hours, even after you close the app, and you continue it in the browser, on Windows or on your phone. Running cloud sessions also show on the apps' start screen. All your other connections are still made directly from your device.

  2. 0.8.2October 7, 2026

    Cloud sessions in Termax Premium

New in Premium: in the browser at app.termax.app an SSH session keeps running for up to 24 hours, even after you close the tab or lock your phone. On every device you are signed in on, you find it under Account → Cloud sessions and pick up exactly where you left off with "Continue here", including everything the server printed meanwhile. "Keep running" is in the pane header and in the dialog when you close a tab. The server discards your password as soon as the connection is up.

  3. 0.8.1October 5, 2026

Report a problem, file manager and sync

New: "Report a problem" on connection and sync errors and in the settings. You see exactly what goes to our support before it is sent and can change or delete anything; server addresses, user names and connection names are removed beforehand. A sync error now shows the reason the server reports.

Fixed: in the file manager, double-clicking a folder made the list jump down so the folder below opened. In the browser, targets in your home or company network are no longer retried automatically, and on the iPhone a session now survives 15 minutes after locking the screen. Connections with an RSA key and snippets sync again (server-side, for all versions).

  4. 0.8.0October 1, 2026

Jump host, port forwarding, Telnet and serial

Jump host on Windows, Android and in the browser: connect through up to three bastion hosts in a row, with a field in the connection editor and import of ProxyJump from ~/.ssh/config. Local and remote port forwarding on Windows and Android, SOCKS5 on Windows, plus a tunnel list and "Open web interface" for Proxmox, Home Assistant, routers or Portainer. Port forwarding is not possible in the browser.

Telnet is available on Windows, Android and in the browser (with an account there), serial/COM on Windows, in the browser (Chromium) and on Android via a USB-OTG adapter. Telnet is unencrypted. "Key instead of password" copies the public key to the server with one click (Windows, Android). Fixed: editing a connection used to delete its color, last connection and the jump host field.

  5. 0.7.1September 27, 2026

    Support for older network devices

New option "Allow legacy algorithms" in the connection settings: for old switches, routers or NAS that only support SHA-1 key exchange and older encryption. It is off by default and only applies to the connection where you turn it on; modern servers keep using the secure algorithms. If a connection fails because of outdated algorithms, Termax now points you straight to the option. When importing ~/.ssh/config, it is set automatically for devices with matching entries.

  6. 0.7.0September 27, 2026

More protection for your sign-in and credentials Security

    • Your sign-in is now stored encrypted on Windows and Android. You stay signed in.
    • "Change password": a mistyped current password could lock you out of the cloud vault. The password is now checked first.
    • Windows: files from the server that would launch a program when opened (such as scripts or Office files with macros) are no longer opened directly. Opened files are treated by Windows like a download.
    • Android: newly generated SSH keys are stored in the protected app storage. Nothing of Termax moves along when you switch phones or into cloud backups.
    • Current security updates for the Chromium base of the Windows app.
  7. 0.6.9September 27, 2026

Much bigger file manager, "Forgot password"

Select several files and download or delete them together, pack and unpack ZIP archives, download whole folders as ZIP, edit text files right in Termax or open them in the default app (changes are uploaded again if you want). The upload progress no longer gets stuck with many files, and a cancelled upload no longer damages an existing file. New: "Forgot password" right in the app. Plus many fixes, including two-factor login, clearer error messages and resetting changed host keys.

  8. 0.6.8September 24, 2026

    Cloud sync fixed

Your sign-in is now renewed while the app is running. If it does expire, Termax says so clearly (instead of a green check mark) and offers "Sign in again". Changes are no longer lost during sync, even if the devices' clocks differ, and a device that hasn't synced for a while no longer overwrites newer changes. Plus: a notice while Premium is being unlocked after purchase.

  9. 0.6.7September 20, 2026

    Key-based connections on every device

When saving, the key itself (encrypted) is put into the vault and synced, not just its file path. Existing connections are upgraded automatically on first start. Copying from full-screen programs such as Claude Code, tmux or Neovim now reaches the clipboard.

  10. 0.6.6September 17, 2026

    Maintenance update Security

The library Termax uses to read the update information from termax.app was moved to a patched version. No changes to the interface or features.

  11. 0.6.5September 17, 2026

    New look, dictation

A calmer interface with consistent surfaces for sidebar, tabs and terminal header, status dots instead of colorful badges, slim scrollbars, hover actions in the connection list and file manager, dialogs with a fixed header. Dictation: recognition follows the app language (German/English), error messages in both languages, and recognized text can no longer put control characters into the command line.

  12. 0.6.4September 8, 2026

Terminal fixed after a dropped connection

When a full-screen program (e.g. an AI chat in the terminal) dies together with the connection, the terminal no longer gets stuck in mouse mode. Previously, after reconnecting, every mouse movement printed garbage like "35;125;7M" behind the prompt. Also: Windows updates are faster again.

  13. 0.6.3September 8, 2026

    Fast updates (Windows)

Clicking "Restart and install now" now swaps Termax in seconds instead of minutes. The package got rid of more than 7,000 unneeded files, and the update bar shows progress in MB and speed.

  14. 0.6.2September 8, 2026

    Reliable updates (Windows)

Installing a new version no longer fails when a file of the old version is briefly held by Windows or the virus scanner. First version that fully updates itself.
