// Termax vs WinSCP

Everything WinSCP does — with the terminal you were opening PuTTY for

WinSCP is a fine dedicated SFTP client, but pure file transfer is only half of remote server work. Termax combines both jobs in a single connection and window.

Real SSH terminal (xterm.js, mouse)

WinSCP remains excellent if you only move files and never touch the command line. Termax is aimed at the (very common) case where you want both, without paying for a bundle.

// FAQ

Termax as a WinSCP alternative — common questions

Does Termax replace WinSCP for SFTP transfers?
Yes. Termax ships with a full SFTP file manager: browse remote directories, upload and download files with progress, drag-and-drop, edit remote files, and manage permissions — the same tasks WinSCP is used for. The difference is you don't need to switch to a separate terminal app for command-line work: SSH terminal and SFTP live side by side in the same window and share the same connection.
Why use Termax instead of WinSCP + PuTTY?
WinSCP is great for file transfers but has no first-class SSH terminal — you end up running PuTTY next to it. Termax bundles both, using a modern xterm.js terminal for the command line and a proper SFTP manager for files. Fewer windows to juggle, one connection list, one place to manage keys.
Is Termax free like WinSCP?
Yes. Termax is completely free. Unlike WinSCP, it also runs on Android with the same SFTP file manager.
Does Termax support SCP and FTP too?
Termax focuses on SFTP over SSH, the secure modern default for remote file transfer. Plain FTP and SCP are being phased out across the industry — SFTP works with every OpenSSH server without extra configuration.
